Why I Added Dog Mom Gifts and Pet Memorials to Cora’s Canine Collective

When I started Cora’s Canine Collective, I wanted to make beautiful things for dogs.

Not just pretty collars…collars that make people smile every time they see it on their dog. Little pieces of art that celebrate the dogs we love so much.

It’s been such an incredible journey connecting with so many amazing dog moms across the country. Your stories, your photos, and your love for your dogs inspire me every single day.

I don’t share a lot about myself on social media in general. But if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s this:

I’m always learning. Always exploring. Always asking, “What else could I create?”

Creating isn’t just something I do. It’s part of who I am.

The Laser Engraver That Started Everything

A few months ago, I bought a laser engraver with one goal in mind: to make custom dog tags and engraved name plates for my collars. Simple enough.

Except… I know myself.

Learning a new tool is basically an invitation for my brain to ask, “Okay… but what ELSE could we make?”

Before long, I was engraving keychains. Then jewelry. Then keepsakes. The laser and I were having a very good time.

(You can see some of what came out of that rabbit hole here and here.)

The Part That Changed Everything

Around that same time, a few friends lost dogs they loved with their whole hearts.

The heartbreaking truth about loving a dog is that the grief never really leaves. It changes. It softens. But years later, one photo or one memory can still catch you completely off guard.

It made me think about the dogs I’ve lost over the years. And I found myself wishing I could have created something like this when they were gone.

Then it hit me.

It’s not too late.

I can create something beautiful to honor my own dogs…and I can create those same meaningful pieces for the people in my life.

I’ll be honest: I spent about a month designing memorial pieces with tears running down my face. 😭

Not because I was trying to make something sad. Because I was trying to make something worthy of the love behind it.

If you’ve lost a dog and you’re looking for something meaningful to carry them with you, you can see the full memorial collection here.

And Then Something Even Bigger Clicked

I don’t just want to make things for dogs.

I want to make things for dog moms.

Beautiful things. Funny things. Meaningful things. Wearable little love notes for dog moms who give their whole hearts to their dogs.

Things that celebrate the dogs still by our side, and honor the ones who will always be part of us.

Because you deserve to be celebrated, too.

You’ve trusted me with your dogs, your stories, your photos, and sometimes your heartbreak. That isn’t something I take lightly.

So you’ll be seeing more personalized gifts, more jewelry, more memorial keepsakes — and probably a lot of other ideas I haven’t dreamed up yet. You can explore everything in the dog mom gifts page, including the memorial necklaces that I’m especially proud of.

What’s Coming Next

I’m just getting started.

I’ve got lots more in mind for you… and your dog. ❤️

And yes…all this experimenting with the laser means I’ve accidentally made approximately 8,000 practice pieces. 😂 So don’t be surprised if little freebies start showing up with your orders. I genuinely cannot help myself.

Thank you for letting me build something that feels more meaningful every day. 💜🐾

P.S. If you want to see what started it all, the collars that built this brand are still here and here.
