What is Biothane?
Biothane is a durable, waterproof, and odor-resistant material made of polyester webbing coated with PVC or TPU. It’s known for its strength and flexibility, making it an excellent choice for dog collars and leashes.
Is the heat transfer vinyl permanent?
The artwork is created using heat transfer vinyl that is securely applied to the collar for a clean, long-lasting finish.
It’s designed to hold up well with gentle use and normal low friction activities. However, because it is a decorative element, it may show wear if exposed to heavy abrasion, rough play, high-friction conditions, or harsh chemicals. We recommend treating these collars like artwork collars rather than off leash running through the woods collars.
To keep your collar looking its best, we recommend regular, gentle care.
How do I keep maximize custom collar longevity?
Clean the collar weekly using mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbing.
Natural oils from your dog’s skin and coat can build up over time, which can impact longevity. Keeping your dog’s coat clean and cleaning the collar regularly will help maintain the integrity of the collar.
As with any decorative piece, minimizing repeated friction (such as rough play or dragging through brush) will help preserve the artwork and overall appearance.
Why choose Biothane over traditional materials?
Biothane offers several advantages over leather or nylon:
• Waterproof: Perfect for dogs that love to swim or play in the rain.
• Odor-Resistant: Unlike other materials, Biothane won’t hold onto smells.
• Durable: It’s incredibly strong and can withstand daily activities that most dog gear can’t. Please note – no material is indestructible. Always check your dog gear regularly. Discontinue use if damaged.
• Easy to Clean: A quick wipe with soap and water keeps it looking like new.
Are Biothane collars safe for my dog?
Yes! Biothane is soft and flexible, ensuring your dog’s comfort while being tough enough for safety. It’s also non-toxic and hypoallergenic, making it suitable for most dogs. We do not recommend wearing a dog collar 24/7. Give your dog’s neck some airflow and breathing space regularly!
How do I clean & care for Biothane collars and leashes?
Simply wipe the collar or leash with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed. For tougher dirt, you can rinse it under running lukewarm water. Always dry thoroughly after cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals to maintain the integrity of the material. Do not wear in conjunction with a flea collar or other harsh chemicals, as this may stain or degrade the materials.
Are Biothane products strong enough for large or strong dogs?
Absolutely. Biothane is incredibly strong, with many products able to withstand hundreds of pounds of pull force. It’s an excellent choice for large or active dogs. We also use hardware that is rated for 375+ pounds of pressure. Additionally, we use chicago screws with loctite to ensure maximum strength and reliability for our collars and leashes.
Do Biothane collars come in different colors?
Yes! Biothane comes in a variety of vibrant colors, ensuring your pup’s accessories are as unique and stylish as they are. If you are interested in a color that is not listed on our site, we may be able to order for a custom product.
Are Biothane collars adjustable?
Yes, our Biothane collars are adjustable to ensure a perfect fit for your dog. Be sure to measure your dog’s neck and refer to our sizing guide for the best fit.
What is your processing & shipping time?
Our products are currently shipped out within 2-3 from the date the order was placed. Occasionally it can take longer if we run out of a color, hardware, etc. but your order will ALWAYS be fulfilled if an order was placed, or you will hear from us directly and be refunded in full. Shipping time varies based on the shipping option you choose at checkout.
Is Biothane environmentally friendly?
Biothane is a synthetic material, so it’s not biodegradable. However, its durability means it lasts much longer than traditional materials, reducing waste over time.
Can I customize my Biothane collar or leash?
Of course! At Cora’s Canine Collective, we offer customization options like size, color, and hardware finishes. Contact us for special requests or to create something truly unique for your pup. In fact, I created a tool for you to do just that! Check our our Interactive Custom Collar Design Studio!
Do you offer exchanges or refunds?
Cora’s Canine Collective products are handmade, custom to your order specifics. Because of this, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges. However, all of our custom-made collars and leashes ARE covered under warranty for hardware defects (screws, rings & snaps) for up to one year. We stand behind our products and feel it’s our job to ensure that you have full confidence in your purchase. If you have an issue with hardware during the covered timeframe, please let us know and we will send you new hardware OR rebuild at no cost to you. (Please note: chewing through Biothane or hardware, or damage from tie-outs or leash dragging is NOT covered.)
